Extra Curricular Provision

From September 2023 we will be running our free clubs on a Monday night. We offer every child from Reception- Year 6 in the academy the opportunity to attend a club and therefore all pupils will remain in the academy until 4pm on Mondays from Monday 11th September 2023. We have included the answers to frequently asked questions below.

For the first few week’s children will take part in a club taster where they experience each club. After the taster sessions the children will be able to choose the club they would like to attend for a block of approximately 7-8 weeks.

Monday Club Night FAQ

When are clubs?
Every Monday night 3pm-4pm in each year group from Reception to Year 6.

How will my child select a club?

For the first few weeks all our children will get to experience every club in the form of a taster. Please show your child club brochure and ask them to think about the clubs they would like to attend. The teachers will also do this in school and collate the information from pupils. If your child does not get allocated their first choice, we would still like them to stay on Monday’s as a place will soon become available.

How will children get to clubs?
They will be escorted by their teachers. Clubs will be mostly situated in the classrooms in your child's year group.

What if my child has an appointment?
We would ask parents not to arrange appointments on Monday's after school as this will be disruptive to the clubs that are running and difficult for our office team to manage.

What clubs will you offer?
We run a variety of clubs that include cooking, Lego Architecture, Homework, Computing, Debating, gardening, Art and sports clubs.

My child has said they are not keen on staying for a club, should they attend.
Yes! We find that children really enjoy an extra hour in school with their friends once they are here.

Can I send a snack for my child?
Yes. Please send a small piece of fruit or cereal bar (no nuts) if you feel your child will be hungry.

Where should I collect at 4pm?
Parents will collect from the usual collection points. Gates will open at 3:56pm.

What happens if my child wants to change club?
We will encourage children to give their club a go for 2-3 weeks but children will be able to move if they would like to.

What is the cost?
FREE! We will not be charging parents. Some clubs may be run by providers who usually charge however we will pay for these. A huge thank you to our amazing Mayflower staff for running these for the children.

My child attends Mayflowers After School Club, can they still attend?
Yes. Children will be escorted to Mayflowers after the club finishes.

My child is in Year 6, will they attend?
Yes. All children will attend a club until 4pm on a Monday. Boosters for Year 6 will run on Tuesday- Thursday each week with some sessions being for 2 hours.
