Reception Knife and Fork Tables
Our Primary Director has implemented a new initiative in our Reception classes: a ‘knife and fork’ table where the children are able to practise using cutlery to cut plasticine.
This intervention will help children to improve their fine motor skills as well as developing a key life skill. Through regular practice, children will build their hand-strength, coordination and dexterity. This will help them to develop a secure pencil grip and enables children to write neatly and confidently.
This week, Harris Federation Primary Director, Sabeena Hasan, visited Mayflower and was helping some of our Reception children to practice holding their knives and forks correctly. The children were really enthusiastic and eager to demonstrate the progress that they have been making.
